Jamaica Cafe (ID)

Originally from Jakarta-Indonesia, Jamaica Cafe are proud to call Jakarta-Indonesia as our home. We have spent the last 18 years touring the country with our unique style of vocal harmony-based music. We've appeared with such acts as a wedding singer, guest star, company gathering, birthday party, cafe band and many more. In 1995, Jamaica Cafe's version of Louis Armstrong's Blue Moon was featured in the movie trailer for “Bulan Tertusuk Ilalang.”- directed by Indonesian's most honorable filmmaker, Garin Nugroho.

The origins of the group date back to Jakarta in 1992 when college-mates, Anton Mirsaputra, Michael da Lopez, Hekko Wicaksono, and other talented singers they had come to know over the years from singing around the colleges. Having been in and out of several traditional male groups over the years, the three of us developed an affinity for a cappella sounds and a unique ability to create distinct harmony arrangements. 5 men came out, 2 men came in. Bayuseno and Enrico Simangunsong completed the harmony.

We spent our years building up our fan base by touring hundreds of colleges, universities, cafes across the country. In the process, we produced ourselves the 1st album titled "Musik Mulut" (mouth music-as in English) in November 2004, in which achieving an award from MURI (Indonesian Book Of Records) as a First Initiator Recording Artist without any musical instrument in Indonesia.

Each member of us had the good fortune of growing up in a musical family that nurtured our love of song. Although our influences stretch far and wide, Anton, Michael, Enrico, Bayu & Hekko find a common bond in vocal music. In addition, we added Jimmy as an additional singer to make our harmony more completed. From R&B and Jazz, to Pop and Rock, our tight harmonies and upbeat arrangements always provide the perfect blend.

In December 2005, we gained our international success with our 1st mini concert in PESTA RAYA, a yearly event in ESPLANADE - SINGAPORE, 9 months after our collaboration with Malayan and Singaporean musicians in ROCK OPERA event on the same venue. We continued our -go international- a year after, on the same venue also.

Often described as, "one of Indonesia's best-entertain vocal performances", we continue to record and tour the country, delighting our audiences with our signature vocal sound. In the meantime, we now combining a capella and Vocal Play
